Node
Exploring The Node
Flyt develop the Node ADS-B hardware and software stack right here in the UK, delivering the solution world-wide. Our exceptional hardware and elegant interface provide the fastest onboarding experience in the market, while continuing to deliver a truly crafted user interface post onboarding, with automatic updates and real-time statistics.
Here, we'll explore the Flyt Node X1, Node D1 and the Flyt Node Console.
In The Box
Flyt Node X1
Our Flyt Node X1 is the work-horse of the operations, providing Ethernet, WiFi, two USB ports and USB-C for power delivery. The machined aluminium casing provides excellent fan-free thermal cooling, ensuring your Node remains operationally silent.
We haven't stopped there - the internals have been specifically selected to provide an excellent power to performance value, meaning our Node X1 is very energy efficient, consuming just a few watts under normal operation, while providing exceptional performance through its quad-core processor. Plenty of RAM and storage is available on the X1 ensuring your Flyt Node X1 will offer a very stable platform, while offering two USB ports for future expansion.
ADS-B SDR Receiver
We have specially selected the bundled ADS-B software defined radio receiver to ensure you get the most out of your node. With exceptional flight tracking capabilities, the SDR is specifically tuned for the 1090mhz ADS-B frequency, featuring an on-board filter and pre-amp.
Starter Antenna
The included starter antenna is a perfect match to get you up and running as quickly as possible. Connect to the receiver using the SMA, and start receiving ADS-B flight informational instantly.
To fully maximise the potential of your Node, we do recommend a dedicated, external antenna, tuned to the 1090mhz frequency. Take a look at our shop for antenna upgrades, or explore antenna's from JetVision, FlightAware, Pimoroni, Paradar and more.
Power Supply
The universal USB-C connector is available on all our Flyt X models. Our power brick is perfectly suited to providing enough power to operate your setup.
What You'll Need
Your Flyt Node X1 comes with everything you need to get started.
Flyt Node D1
Our Flyt Node D1 is a mini power house, providing Ethernet, WiFi, a USB port for the SDR and USB-C for power delivery. The node is packaged in an aluminium casing and offers excellent fan-free thermal cooling, ensuring your Node remains operationally silent.
We haven't stopped there - the internals have been specifically selected to provide an excellent power to performance value, meaning our Node D1 is very energy efficient, consuming just a few watts under normal operation, while providing exceptional performance through its quad-core processor. The D1 punches well above its price, offering an exceptional entry point into Flyt and the Wingbits network.
What You'll Need
Your Flyt Node D1 will require a compatible SDR, a 2.4A USB-C Power Supply and a 1090Mhz Antenna.
For a list of compatible SDR’s, see our SDR Comparison Chart at https://flyt.ws/sdr-comparison-chart/
The Console
Cockpit
The Cockpit is your landing dashboard, providing a status at a glance, displaying your registered location and recent news and events from the Flyt team.
With colour coding to indicate potential issues, you'll instantly know the health of your Flyt node.
Keep up to date with our Broadcast, featuring the very latest news and events from the Flyt team.
Hardware
The Node dashboard provides real-time information about the Node hardware, including processor, RAM and Storage consumption all available at a glance.
Your Node dashboard also provides feedback on the internal temperature in addition to network activity, available in the easy to read graph format. Network connection states including your WiFi SSID and IP address are also displayed.
Want to explore more? Click the drop down arrow in on the Node dashboard to get the stats in raw format.
Radio
The Radio dashboard is where you can monitor the health and stats of the connected software defined radio.
Presented information includes your SDR gain, active signal strength, noise and a general connectivity indicator. Also provided is an easy to read chart providing information on the number of craft currently visible and the number of messages actively received.
You can explore further, with 5 minute stat intervals presented in the drop down menu.
Map
Our map is the perfect place to view the aircraft being tracked by your Node. With a simple to use interface, you can interact with the map, with real-time traffic on display. Coloured indicators display the craft elevation, while custom images represent the type of aircraft.
Explore information about an aircraft by simply clicking it on the map. The craft panel is updated in real-time, displaying a full array of metrics to geek out on, including the craft's make and model, flight path, position, altitude, speed and more. If that wasn't enough, you also get a picture of the actual plane! Awesome.
List
Need to see data side by side? Head to the list view which presents all the craft in an easy to read table. Select any of the aircraft in the table to view a all available information in the craft panel.
An excellent alternative to quickly view all aircraft side by side.
